Description générale

SAMD4B (sterile alpha motif domain containing 4B) is a SAM-containing protein consisting of a sterile alpha motif (SAM) for protein interaction in various biological processes. It belongs to the family of post-transcriptional regulators, which has a specific RNA sequence motif and smaug recognition element (SRE). It is expressed in human embryonic as well as other adult tissues.

Application

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

SAMD4B (sterile alpha motif domain containing 4B) is highly involved in various transcriptional signaling activities. It suppresses transcriptional activity of L8G5-luciferase. Overexpressed SAMD4B represses transcriptional expression of activator protein-1 (AP-1), p53 and p21 in mammalian cells. The repressor effect can be relieved by siRNA. It is also involved in the removal of adenylate group from maternal protein via deadenylation.
