Description générale

Collagen is a major fibrous, structural protein in animals. It is a key component of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and is predominantly present in the connective tissue, ligaments, tendons, and cornea. Collagens consist of three parallel left-handed polypeptide chains coiled to form a right-handed triple helix. They also have a globular domain.

Application

The coating concentration is 1 ml per 10 cm2 surface area of the cell culture ware: 2.5 ml for coating a T-25 flask or a 60 mm tissue culture dish. 7.5 ml for coating a T-75 flask or a 100 mm tissue culture dish.

Add Attachment Factor Solution to the flask and rock the flask gently to distribute the solution evenly to cover the whole culture surface. Coat the culture ware surface for 30 minutes at 37°C or 2 hours or overnight at room temperature. Remove Attachment Factor Solution by aspiration in a sterile hood. The coated flask can be used immediately or store at 4°C for up to 2 weeks.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Collagen is a basic unit for the growth and support of various cells and tissues in the body. Collagen may be involved in wound healing. Collagen might promote cell adhesion and proliferation when used as a coating on iron-manganese alloys (Fe-30%Mn) scaffolds in orthopedic applications.
