Description générale

Perylene belongs to the class of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. It is a hydrophobic fluorescent probe used for imaging lipid bilayer membranes.[1]

Application

Perylene may be used as an analytical standard along with a mixture of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) to determine the spatial distribution and sources of PAHs in surface sediments of rivers.[2] It may also be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in water samples using spectrofluorimetric technique.[3]
