Description générale

Hydroxynorketamine (HNK), or 6-hydroxynorketamine, is a secondary metabolite of the anesthetic, dissociative, and antidepressant drug ketamine. It is formed by hydroxylation of the intermediate norketamine. This certified Snap-N-Spike® solution is suitable for numerous GC/MS or LC/MS applications in forensic analysis, urine drug testing, clinical toxicology, and clinical or diagnostic testing. Ketamine, sold as Ketanest, Ketaset and Ketalar, is an NMDA receptor antagonist used for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in human and veterinary medicine. The drug is often abused at clubs, raves, or parties for its noted hallucingenic and dissociative properties and prescribed by some doctors as an off-label treatment for depression.

Application

  • Hydroxynorketamine HCl for neuropharmacological research: Hydroxynorketamine hydrochloride, a novel NMDA receptor modulator, has shown potential in enhancing synaptic plasticity. This compound provides a promising avenue for exploring neuroprotective strategies in neuropharmacological studies (Fountoulakis et al., 2023).
  • Antidepressant effects of Hydroxynorketamine HCl in preclinical studies: Studies have demonstrated that Hydroxynorketamine hydrochloride exhibits significant antidepressant effects, making it a valuable candidate for treatment-resistant depression research. This compound′s unique mechanism involving the NMDA receptor highlights its potential in psychiatric treatments (Gilbert et al., 2021).
  • Synaptic plasticity research using Hydroxynorketamine hydrochloride: Hydroxynorketamine hydrochloride′s role in modulating synaptic plasticity has been studied, emphasizing its therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative diseases and cognitive disorders. This research underlines the importance of Hydroxynorketamine as a tool in understanding the complexities of synaptic functions (Evans et al., 2018).
