Application

Mucic acid or galactaric acid can be used as a precursor for the synthesis of:
  • 2,3,4,5-tetra-O-acetylgalactaric acid (AGA) which is used as a monomer unit along with adipic acid for the synthesis of copolyanhydrides.[1]
  • Muconic acid and adipic acid.[2]

It can be also utilized in the surface modification of monodisperse water-soluble magnetic nanoparticles.[3]
