Biochem/physiol Actions

Solifenacin succinate (SOL) blocks the cholinergic signals to M3 receptors by inhibiting the muscarinic M3 receptors in the bladder. This action prevents the contractions of the detrusor muscles in the urinary bladder wall, leading to relaxing the bladder as well as decreasing urinary urgency and nocturia. Thus, SOL is a widely used antimuscarinic agent for treating the contraction of the overactive bladder.

Solifenacin is an antimuscarinic agent used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder. Pharmacologically significant amounts of solifenacin were excreted in the urine of humans taking a clinical dose of this drug. The aim of this study is to measure muscarinic

1 A novel muscarinic receptor antagonist, solifenacin succinate, inhibited specific binding of [N-methyl-(3)H]-scopolamine ([(3)H]-NMS) in the mouse bladder, submaxillary gland and heart in a concentration-dependent manner. This inhibitory effect was greatest in the submaxillary gland, followed by the bladder and
