General description
Chromium picolinate is a supplemental or alternative medication for type 2 diabetes and an anti-diabetic mechanisms of CrPic in insulin-resistant 3T3-L1 adipocytes.
Application
Chromium picolinate (CrPic), a dietay supplement, may be used to study its potential as a modulator of glucose uptake and the activity of insulin. CrPic is used to study its effects on nuclear factor-κ B (NF-κB) and nuclear factor-E2-related factor-2 (Nrf2) pathways in animals.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Chromium picolinate (CrPic) is a supplemental or alternative medication for type 2 diabetes. Experimental evidence shows the effect of CrPic on glucose uptake through the activation of p38 MAPK. Chromium is thought to potentiate the action of insulin, leading to increased insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetes.

Coordination complexes of chromium (Cr) and two pyridine carboxylate isomers, nicotinate (nic) and picolinate (pic) were synthesized and analyzed. Cr mono and dinicotinate complexes were formed with 1:1 and 1:2 ratios of Cr3+ and nic at pH 7.5. Cr dinicotinate

Thirty-four sows (parity=1.8; BW=206 kg) were used to determine the influence of L-carnitine and/or chromium tripicolinate on plasma leptin concentrations of gestating sows fed one meal daily. Treatments were arranged in a 2 x 2 factorial with main effects of

Twenty-four Suffolk lambs (average BW 38 +/- 2.7 kg; 16 ewes and 8 wethers) were fed either a corn-cottonseed hull-based control diet (CON) or CON plus 250 ppb of Cr as chromium tripicolinate (CrPic). Lambs were penned in groups of
