General description

Iron(III) chloride is a mild oxidizing agent and participates in various carbon-carbon-bond forming reactions. On crystallization with water, it forms hydrates. It can be prepared by reacting chlorine with the scrap iron at approximately 650°C.
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for catalytic efficiency. Click here for more information.

Application

Iron(III) chloride (Ferric Chloride, FeCl3) has been used as a surface modulator for the characterization of wines by fingerprinting technology. It has been used for the quantitative estimation of sulfide in various biological samples.
The vapor-phase co-reductions with other metal halides by hydrogen results in finely divided intermetallics with applications as structural materials or compounds with useful thermoelectric, magnetic, and oxidation-resitance properties.

Recent findings demonstrate that aberrant downregulation of the iron-exporter protein, ferroportin (FPN1), is associated with poor prognosis and osteoclast differentiation in multiple myeloma (MM). Here, we show that FPN1 was downregulated in MM and that clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic
