suitability

Alicyclobacillus spp.

General description

Alicyclobacillus is a food-spoiling microorganism and requires an acidic environment to grow. YSG media supports the growth of all currently known species of Alicyclobacillus (A. acidocaldarius, A. acidoterrestris, A. cycloheptanicus, and A. hesperidium). The low pH value of the media, in combination with the high incubation temperature, inhibits the growth of contaminating microbiota.

Application

M-YSG Broth is used for the detection and enrichment of Alicyclobacillus, in fruit juices and other acidic foods.
