Biochem/physiol Actions
Interleukin-1 (IL-1), originally known as Lymphocyte Activating Factor (LA F), activates T cells and lymphocytes, which then proliferate and secrete Interleukin-2 (IL-2). The proliferative activity of human IL-1α is tested in culture using the murine cell line D10S.
Physical form
Lyophilized from 0.2 μm filtered phosphate buffered saline containing 0.25 mg of bovine serum albumin.
Analysis Note
The biological activity of recombinant rat IL-1α was measured by its ability to stimulate cell proliferation using a mouse helper T cell line, D10.G4.1.

After spinal cord injury (SCI), reactive astrocytes can be classified into two distinctive phenotypes according to their different functions: neurotoxic (A1) astrocytes and neuroprotective (A2) astrocytes. Our previous studies proved that photobiomodulation (PBM) can promote motor function recovery and improve

A cDNA sequence coding for rat interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1 alpha) has been isolated from a cDNA library that was prepared with mRNA derived from LPS-stimulated rat peritoneal macrophages by using human IL-1 alpha cDNA as a probe. The rat cDNA

Bioengineers have designed numerous instructive brain extracellular matrix (ECM) environments with tailored and tunable protein compositions and biomechanical properties in vitro to study astrocyte reactivity during trauma and inflammation. However, a major limitation of both protein-based and synthetic model microenvironments

Neurotoxic microglia and astrocytes begin to activate and participate in pathological processes after spinal cord injury (SCI), subsequently causing severe secondary damage and affecting tissue repair. We have previously reported that photobiomodulation (PBM) can promote functional recovery by reducing neuroinflammation

Astrocyte A1/A2 phenotypes may play differential role in the pathogenesis of periventricular white matter (PWM) damage in septic postnatal rats. This study aimed to determine whether melatonin (MEL) would improve the axonal hypomyelination through shifting A1 astrocytes towards A2. One-day-old
