General description

Mycoplasma enrichment supplement is a selective supplement added to the Mycoplasma medium base for the isolation of Mycoplasma. Yeast extract provides the required nutritional needs, minerals, and vitamins. Horse serum is a source of cholesterol and preformed nucleic acid precursors used to promote the growth of cells. Thallium acetate is an antibacterial agent, added to prevent the overgrowth of slow-growing Mycoplasma species bycontaminating organisms. Penicillin inhibits the growth of Gram-positive bacteria in mixed cultures.

Mycoplasma enrichment supplement is recommended as a supplement to Mycoplasma Agar Base and Mycoplasma Broth Base for the isolation and cultivation of Mycoplasma species from clinical specimens.
