Hexafluorophosphoric acid (HPF6) is a strong acid that is commonly used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. It is also used in the polymerization and preparation of its salts.
Application
Hexafluorophosphoric acid solution is used as a catalyst for the conversion of polyethyleneimine (PEI) microgel into the corresponding polymeric ionic liquids (PIL) forms via protonation and anion exchange reaction. Polymeric ionic liquids are used as metal-free catalysts for hydrogen production via sodium borohydride methanolysis.
