Fatty acid-binding protein 5 (FABP5) is also called Fatty acid-binding protein, epidermal, Epidermal-type fatty acid-binding protein (E-FABP), and Psoriasis-associated fatty acid-binding protein homolog (PA-FABP). FABP5 has a high specificity for fatty acids, particularly for C18 chain lengths. The addition of double bonds or decreasing chain lengths reduces FABP5 affinity. FABP5 is likely involved in keratinocyte differentiation, and it is expressed in keratinocytes, especially in psoriatic skin.
