Application

Methyl-β-cyclodextrin is a macrocyclic compound that can form inclusion complexes with a number of guest molecules. It shows higher solubility in aqueous solutions and greater solubilizing and complexing power compared to the parent β-cyclodextrin. MβCD can be used to enhance the enzyme activity and enantioselectivity of subtilisin enzyme in organic solvents.

Cholesterol homoeostasis is critical for cell viability and proliferation. The SREBP (sterol regulatory element-binding protein) pathway is crucial for the maintenance of cholesterol homoeostasis. This pathway is controlled by cholesterol and cholesterol-derived oxysterols. J774 cells cannot convert desmosterol into cholesterol
