General description

Sodium difluoro(oxalato)borate, also referred to as NaDFOB, is a high-purity and low-water content white crystalline powder that has become increasingly popular in the field of battery technology. NaDFOB is the sodium equivalent of lithium difluoro(oxalato)borate and is soluble in polar organic solvents (>1.0 M in carbonates), making it ideal for use in battery electrolytes. It exhibits excellent electrochemical stability, surpassing NaClO4, with NaDFOB-based carbonate electrolytes showing electrochemical stability windows above 5.5V vs Na+/Na. Our NaDFOB is manufactured to the highest standards to ensure its purity, enabling it to be used effectively in a wide range of battery applications.
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for energy efficiency. Click here for more information.

Application

Sodium-difluoro(oxalato)borate, anhydrous and battery-grade with a purity of ≥99%, is a versatile electrolyte additive for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). NaDFOB demonstrates superior compatibility with a range of solvents commonly employed in SIBs, unlike NaClO4 and NaPF6, which exhibit solvent-dependent performances. Additionally, NaDFOB is stable and does not produce any toxic or hazardous substances upon contact with air and water. A recent study found that the incorporation of NaDFOB as an additive significantly enhances the charge-discharge capacity and cycling performance of graphite anodes. Another study suggests that NaDFOB contributes to the formation of a stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) film on the surface of graphite anodes, resulting in a highly stable electrolyte/electrode interface. With these benefits, Sodium-difluoro(oxalato)borate is a promising solution for improving the performance and stability of sodium-ion batteries in various applications.
