General description

The average diameter of the octadecylamine functionalized single walled carbon nanotubes (ODA functionalized SWNTs) is 1.4nm ± 0.1nm. This single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) exhibits properties normally associated with molecular species such as solubility in organic solvents and solution-based chemical transformations.[1] The nanotubes were prepared by electric arc discharge method.

    1. The molecular mass of the product cannot be estimated as this material is comprised of SWCNTs of different lengths, different bundle sizes and multiple chiralities. The SWCNTs are functionalized with ODA (octadecyl amine, MW = 269.5 g/mol). The molecular weight of carbon is 12.011 g/mole.
