General description

Hydrochloric acid is a strong mineral acid. Adsorption of Fe(III) by Dowex-1 anion exchange resin using various concentrations of HCl solutions has been studied.

Application

Hydrochloric acid may be used in the following studies:
  • Membrane assisted solvent extraction (MSX) of rare earth elements (such as neodymium, praseodymium, and dysprosium) from NdFeB magnets and industrial scrap magnets.
  • Preparation of orcinolhydrochloric acid (Bial′s reagent), which is useful for the quantitative determination of sialic acids.
  • Preparation of alcoholic hydrochloric acid-carmine stain.
