General description

Sodium iodide is an inorganic salt. Mixture of chlorotrimethylsilane/sodium iodide in acetonitrile is a useful reagent for the cleavage of esters, lactones, carbamates and ethers.

Application

Sodium iodide may be used in the preparation of sodium hydroxide-sodium iodide reagent for the modified Winkler method for the determination of dissolved oxygen. It may be used for the synthesis of coppersensor-1 (CS1), a membrane-permeable fluorescent dye used for imaging labile copper pools in biological samples.

Coppersensor-1 (CS1) is a small-molecule, membrane-permeable fluorescent dye for imaging labile copper pools in biological samples, including live cells. This probe, comprising a boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) chromophore coupled to a thioether-rich receptor, has a picomolar affinity for Cu+ with high

Iodide excess acutely downregulates NIS mRNA expression, as already demonstrated. PCCl3 cells treated or not with NaI, NaI+NaClO(4) or NaI+Methimazole, for 30 min to 24 h, were used to further explore how iodide reduces NIS gene expression. NIS mRNA expression
