Rhodamine B is a xanthene dye, which functions as a water tracer fluorescent. It is used as a colorant in textiles and food stuffs. Rhodamine B is associated with eye, skin and respiratory tract irritation. It is used as a biomarker in oral rabies vaccine.

Application

Rhodamine B has been used:
  • to represent fluorescence of tetra methyl rhodamine (TMR)
  • in the preparation of adhesive resin for confocal laser scanning microscopy
  • as a fluorescent dye in intrahemolymph dye dosing and retinal image acquisition
  • to depict brain-specific dye capture
  • for imaging targets
