General description

ASB6 (Ankyrin repeat and SOCS box containing 6) is the orphan member of ankyrin repeat, SOCS box (ASB) family and the suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS) box protein superfamily. The family consists of 18 proteins named as ASB1 to ASB18. It is expressed in 3T3-L1 adipocytes as a 50-kDa protein.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

ASB (Ankyrin repeat and SOCS box containing 6) protein is involved in the ubiquitination-mediated pathway. The family members interact specifically with Cul5-Rbx2 in cells to form an E3 ubiquitin (Ub) ligase complex. But, it cannot interact with Cul2 and Rbx1 in the cells. It regulates components in the insulin signaling pathway by altering Asb6 degardation and Elongins BC.
