General description

Goat serum is pooled from a normal donor herd.

Application

Goat serum has been used in:
  • immunohistochemistry[1][2]
  • immunocytochemistry[3]
  • double immunofluorescence[4]
  • enzyme immunoassays (EIAs)
Normal goat serum may be used as a blocking agent or negative control in immunoassays. For immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry, goat serum was used between 1%-20% as blocking agent in various studies.[5][6][7][8][9][10]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Goat serum can be effectively used for routine culture of fish cells.[11]
