Cell Line Description

The cells possess a genomic amplification of the N-myc gene and express elevated levels of N-myc RNA or protein.

Application

KELLY cell line has been used to study the role of polysialic acid (PSA) in controlling tumor cell growth and differentiation by interfering with neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) signaling. It has also been used to study the role of protein tyrosine phosphatase SHP1 in inhibiting Ret oncogene activity.

Culture Medium

RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:5 to 1:20 i.e. seeding at 5x1,000-2x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
