General description

Midodrine is a prodrug and a long acting α-adrenergic stimulating agent, and forms an active metabolite, desglymidodrine, which causes an elevation of the systemic blood pressure with the reduction in heart rate.

Application

Midodrine hydrochloride may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in biological samples and pharmaceutical formulations using different chromatography techniques.
