General description

Dihydrocoumarin is a naturally occurring compound found in Melilotus officinalis (sweet clover) species. It is predominantly used as a flavor ingredient in the food industry[1][2] and reported to exhibit immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.[3]

Application

Dihydrocoumarin may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in guaco extracts and pharmaceutical preparations, and various plant extracts by chromatography-based techniques[3] and capillary electrophoresis.[4][5]
