Gene Information

Escherichia coli ... Cre(2777477)

General description

Cre-recombinase is a 38 kDa DNA recombinase derived from the P1 bacteriophage. It is highly specific for a 34 bp DNA sequence (loxP) found in P1 DNA. It catalyzes site-specific recombination between two 34-base-pair LOXP sites. Its role is to maintain the phage genome as a monomeric unit-copy plasmid in the lysogenic state. It is homotetramer when bound to DNA and belongs to the "phage" integrase family. Anti-Cre Recombinase Antibody can be used to determine the success of gene manipulations in transgenic animals.

Specificity

Cre recombinase. The epitope is located between aa 77 and 343.

Immunogen

Cre recombinase (aa 77 to 343) fusion protein

Application

Anti-Cre Recombinase Antibody, clone 2D8 is a well characterized monoclonal antibody. Proven to reliably detect Cre Recombinase, this mAb is validated for use in ELISA, IC, IF, IH & WB and is backed by multiple publications.

Western Blot (natural and recombinant protein):
A 1:500-1:5,000 dilution was used in a previous lot. Natural Cre recombinase from Bacteriophage P1 migrates at 38.5 kDa by SDS-PAGE.

Immunofluorescence:
A previous lot of this antibody was used on IF.

Immunohistochemistry:
A 1:500-1:5,000 dilution of a previous lot was used in IH.

ELISA:
A 1:500-1:5,000 dilution of a previous lot was used in ELISA.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.
