General description

7-nitro-2-1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl (NBD) phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is a fluorescently labeled lipid where the NBD moiety is attached to the phosphatidylglycerol (PG). PG is abundant in the pulmonary surfactant. It is localized in the alveoli.

Application

16:0-06:0 NBD PG is suitable for lipoteichoic acid synthase (eLtaS) enzyme assay.

Biochem/physiol Actions

7-nitro-2-1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl (NBD) fluorescent labeled lipids function as potential fluorophores for the study of biological and model membranes. 7-nitro-2-1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl (NBD) phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is useful in the analysis of enzymatic reactions. Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) controls inflammatory mechanism against viral infections.

To investigate the effect of fluorescent probe on the properties of membranes, we studied model membranes composed of 1,2- dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) and 1-palmitoyl 2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (POPC) in the presence and absence of fluorescent probe. Lipids that are labeled with the NBD (7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl) group are widely used as fluorescent analogues of native lipids in biological and model membranes to monitor a variety of processes. The NBD group of acyl chain labeled NBD lipids is known

Lipoteichoic acid (LTA) is an important cell wall polymer in Gram-positive bacteria. The enzyme responsible for polyglycerolphosphate LTA synthesis is LtaS, first described in Staphylococcus aureus. Four LtaS orthologues, LtaS(BS) , YfnI, YqgS and YvgJ, are present in Bacillus subtilis.

Our team of scientists has experience in all areas of research including Life Science, Material Science, Chemical Synthesis, Chromatography, Analytical and many others.
