General description

Glutathione S-transferase A5 (UniProt: Q7RTV2; also known as EC: 2.5.1.18, GST class-alpha member 5, Glutathione S-transferase A5-5) is encoded by the GSTA5 gene (Gene ID: 221357) in human. Glutathione S-transferases are soluble proteins that catalyze the conjugation of reduced glutathione and a variety of electrophiles, including many known carcinogens and mutagens. Glutathione S-transferase A5 is a homodimeric cytoplasmic protein with two glutathione binding sites. The mammalian glutathione S-transferases are active in drug metabolism are classified into the alpha, mu and pi classes. Members of the alpha-class of glutathione S-transferases show substrate specificity for cumene hydroperoxide (CuOOH) and 7-chloro-4-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1, 3-diazole (NBD-C1). They exhibit a number of differences from the characteristic glutathione S-transferase structure. For example, in its domain II, it contains a short 3-residue beta-strand near the C-terminal segment and a longer alpha-7 helix.

Specificity

This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects Glutathione S-transferase A5 in Human Liver. It targets an epitope within 14 amino acids from the internal region.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 14 amino acids from the internal region of human Glutathione S-transferase A5.

Application

Anti-Glutathione S-transferase A5 (GSTA5) Antibody, Cat. No. ABN1347, is a highly specific rabbit polyclonal antibody that detects human Glutathione S-transferase A5 and has been tested in Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) and Western Blotting.
