Descripción general

The gene KLHL1 (kelch-like protein 1) is mapped to human chromosome 13q21. It belongs to the kelch protein superfamily. The protein has a broad complex, tramtrack, bric-a-brac (BTB)/poxvirus and zinc finger domain (POZ) and a six-kelch repeat motif. KLHL1 is a neuronal protein.

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

KLHL1 (kelch-like protein 1) is an actin-binding protein, which can modulate voltage-gated P/Q-type calcium channel activity. It also participates in neurite outgrowth. In mice, absence of KLHL1 causes dendritic atrophy and affects motor coordination.
