Descripción general

CACFD1 (calcium channel flower domain containing 1) is a synaptic vesicle-associated Ca²⁺ channel. It is also called Flower protein, and has three or four transmembrane segments. Its second transmembrane domain contains a 9 residue motif, which shares homology to selectivity filters found in VGCCs and transient receptor potential channels (TRPV5 and 6).

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

CACFD1 (calcium channel flower domain containing 1) controls endocytosis in synaptic vesicles, and forms a mutlimeric Ca²⁺ channel to regulate the influx of Ca²⁺. Since it also resides in the bouton plasma membrane of axons, it might be associated with presynaptic resting Ca²⁺ levels.
