General description
Mannosidase Α class 2B member 1 (MAN2B1) gene, spanning 21.5kb with 24 exons, is mapped to human chromosome 19p13.13. MAN2B1 is a lysosomal enzyme and is composed of 1011 amino acids.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions
Mannosidase Α class 2B member 1 (MAN2B1) catalyzes the hydrolysis of Α-d- mannosides from core structure of N-glycans. The encoded protein is also implicated in the turnover of N-linked glycoproteins and in enzyme replacement therapy. Missense mutation in the gene leads to lysosomal storage disorder Α-mannosidosis.
