General description

Placental Alkaline Phosphatase (PLAP) belongs to a family of four isozymes that are synthesized in primordial germ cells and in term placental syncytiotrophoblasts. Anti-PLAP may be useful in the identification of germ cell tumors.

Linkage

PLAP Positive Control Slides, Product No. 321S, are available for immunohistochemistry (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections).

Physical form

Solution in Tris Buffer, pH 7.3-7.7, with 1% BSA and <0.1% Sodium Azide

Two hundred three testicular germ cell tumors were studied immunohistochemically for the presence of placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP). Special emphasis was placed on the pattern and incidence of positive staining of intratubular malignant germ cells (ITMGCs) adjacent to tumors. 99%

The distribution and transport of thrombospondin (TSP), fibrinogen (Fbg), fibronectin (Fn), and Factor VIII-related antigen (VIII:RAg) in resting and thrombin-stimulated platelets was investigated by immunofluorescence microscopy. In resting intact cells, little surface staining was seen for these proteins. In permeable

Recently, placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP) has been suggested as a tumour marker in patients with seminomas (S), since elevated serum levels of PLAP were found with high frequency in these patients. The present immunoperoxidase study of 33 testicular germ cell

Placental-like alkaline phosphatase (PLAP) activity has been reported in various human neoplasms of both somatic and germ cell types. The expression of PLAP was examined with a polyclonal antibody and the immunoperoxidase technique in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections of 37 germ

A variety of primary and metastatic neoplasms can involve the anterior mediastinum and have similar radiographic or histologic appearances. We report an immunohistochemical (IHC) panel that includes CD5, placental-like alkaline phosphatase (PLAP), thyroid transcription factor 1 (TTF-1), cytokeratin (CK) 7
