General description

Histopaque®-1077 is a solution comprising polysucrose and sodium diatrizoate, adjusted to a density of 1.077 +/- 0.001 g/cm3. This medium facilitates rapid recovery of viable lymphocytes from small volumes of whole blood. This technique is suitable for use in cell-mediated lympholysis and human lymphocyte antigen (HLA)2 typing. It may also be employed as the initial isolation step before the enumeration of T-, B-, and null lymphocytes. It is used to create a density medium for the purification of lymphocytes and other mononuclear cells.

Application

Histopaque®-1077 Hybri-Max has been used to isolate:
  • peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from heparinized blood by gradient centrifugation
  • immune cells (lymphocytes) from peripheral blood
  • PBMCs from blood
