General description

Biotin-(ring-6,6-d2), an isotope-labeled analog of biotin, is also known as vitamin H (vitamin B7). It is a water-soluble vitamin B essentially involved in the synthesis of fatty acids and in gluconeogenesis. Biotin is found in plants and animals and its deficiency potentially causes retardation in growth, alopecia and neurological impairment.

Application

Biotin-(ring-6,6-d2) is also known as coenzyme R-(ring-6,6-d2). This product is used as an internal analytical standard for the quantitation of biotin concentration in dietary supplements, fortified foods or within a complex biological matrix.
