Light green SF yellowish (LGSFY) is a disodium salt of an acid triphenylmethane dye. It is also known as Light Green, Lissamine Green SF, Food Green 2, Green No. 205, Acid Green, Acid Brilliant Green 5, and Acid Brilliant Green SF. LGSFY is an important component of Papanicolaou stains in addition to eosin Y and bismark brown Y. Light green SF yellowish is a histological stain for collagen and a permitted colorant for foodstuffs and beverages.
Application
Light green SF is generally used as a cytoplasmic counterstain with nuclear stains like safranine and Feulgen stain. In histopatology, it is used for collagen fiber staining in Masson′s trichrome, Papanicolaou cytological polychrome stains, and Twort stain for microorganisms in tissue sections. It is a constituent of polychrome staining method used for differentiating secretory cells of the pituitary gland. Light green SF also stains the cellulose cell walls of plant cells.

We describe a method which may be useful for the selection of samples for the study of early fibrillation in human articular cartilage. Blocks of cartilage and bone were cut post-mortem from the medial tibial condyles of 29 male and
The role of phosphotungstic acid as the main pH-controlling agent in Papanicolaou's EA stain was analyzed, including its effect on the competition between eosin Y and light green, the principal components of EA solutions, and this acid was compared with
