General description

Chloroform is an organic solvent that can beproduced by the chlorination of methane or lower-chlorinated methanes.

Application

Chloroform can be used as a solvent:
  • To synthesize diaryl ketones.
  • In the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with acid chlorides under the phosphine-free condition to synthesize aryl ketones.
It can also be used as a phosgene precursor in Friedel-Crafts-type aminocarbonylation.(3)

Precise regulation of insulin secretion by the pancreatic beta cell is essential for the maintenance of glucose homeostasis. Insulin secretory activity is initiated by the stepwise breakdown of ambient glucose to increase cellular ATP via glycolysis and mitochondrial respiration. Knockout

Solution-processed organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs) hold great promise to enable roll-to-roll printing of environmentally friendly, mechanically flexible and cost-effective photovoltaic devices. Organs are generated from collections of cells that coalesce and remain together as they undergo a series of choreographed movements to give the organ its final shape. We know little about the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate tissue cohesion
