Mineralized hydrogels are increasingly gaining attention as biomaterials for bone regeneration. The most common mineralization strategy has been addition of preformed inorganic particles during hydrogel formation. This maintains injectability. One common form of bone cement is formed by mixing particles

Poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) is a unique polymer with highly desirable properties such as resistance to chemical degradation, biocompatibility, hydrophobicity, antistiction, and low friction coefficient. However, due to its high melt viscosity, it is not possible to three-dimensional (3D)-print PTFE structures using

  2. How many grams per liter of Product G1910, Gelzan™ CM are recommended for plant tissue culture?

    1 answer
    1. Gelzan™ CM is typically used at a concentration of 2-4 grams per liter.

      Helpful?

    1 answer
    1. The purity of this gelling agent is not determined. This material is a complex polysaccharide comprised of glucose, rhamnose, and glucuronic acid in the approximate molar ratio of 2:1:1. In addition to the base components, historical ICP analysis shows trace amounts of Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Phosphate, and Sodium. The maximum moisture content for this product is 16%. 4. What is the difference between Product G1910, Gelzan CM and Gelrite?

    1 answer
    1. The products are chemically the same. However, Gelzan CM is produced through a new and more efficient process. There are some slight differences in the specifications of the two products.

      Helpful?

  5. What is the gel strength of Product G1910, Gelzan™ CM?

    1 answer
    1. The gel strength as determined by the vendor is between 400-700 g/cm2.

      Helpful?

  6. How do I use Product G1910, Gelzan™ CM?

    1 answer
    1. The G1910 is added to well-stirred water, and the dispersion heated to 85-90°C to ensure full hydration. To form a gel, the necessary amount of electrolyte, such as potassium citrate or calcium chloride, is added to the solution at 85°C and the mixture is poured or pumped into containers and allowed to cool undisturbed. The product is biodegradable, so a biocide is recommended. The typical use level is 0.2 to 2.0%.
