Application

Kaolinite can be used:
  • In the preparation of of polysialate polymers.
  • To prepare mullite composites by sintering kaolinite and alumina.
  • To synthesize microporous materials such as zeolite Linde Type A (LTA) and kaoline based silicoaluminophosphate (SAPO) molecular sieves.
  • In the synthesis of terbium pyridine-picolinate grafted kaoline, as a luminescent hybrid material.
  • As a filler and a coating pigment in the paper industry.

  1. Could you confirm the kaolinite minerals purity, possible impurities, and whether chemical composition details (CoA) are provided with this kaolin product?

    1. Unfortunately, this product is not assayed for impurities. Water is not considered to be an impurity. The analysis for Aluminum and Silicon as determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP) is qualitative; the Certificate of Analysis describes it simply as a positive test for those elements.

  2. What is the purity and surface area of the Kaolinnite?

    1. Unfortunately, this product is not assayed for either purity or surface area.

  3. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

    1. The particle size of this material is not determined on a lot to lot basis. However, historical data suggests that approximately 99% of the product has a particle size of less than 20 um, 90% less than 10 um, 75% less than 6 um, 60% less than 4 um, and 40% less than 2 um. This information reflects historical and may vary from lot to lot.

  5. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature.
