General description

This item is a direct replacement for SCGVT05RE
Work with ease and filter with confidence with Stericup® and Steritop® Filtration Systems.

Stericup® and Steritop® vacuum sterile filtration devices use reliable, high-performance membranes for optimum sterile filtration of laboratory reagents, buffers, and media. These devices combine superior flow rates and throughput with low non-specific binding and a stable, no-tip design.

This Steritop ® 500 mL bottle-top with 0.22 μm pore size polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane filter unit can be used on bottles with 45 mm openings, designed for vacuum applications.

Stericup® and Steritop® systems are designed to reduce foaming and protein denaturation while maximizing flow and can be used for sterile vacuum filtration of aqueous solutions such as tissue culture media and biological fluids.

  1. Are these filters compatible with the 500 ml pyrex glass bottles? I would like to fit this on top of these glass bottles.

    1. The S2GVT05RE has a 45 mm thread inside. Therefore, as long as the glass bottle has a 45 mm thread on top, it will work.

  3. The User Guide says “Use only glass or plastic bottles designed for vacuum applications”. Can you specify which bottles are compatible?

    1. Steritop® Quick Release bottle top units require a vacuum-rated receiver bottle with either a GL33 or GL45 mm closure thread as specified. Steritop® E bottle top units require a vacuum-rated receiver bottle with a GL45 mm closure thread. Bottles no larger than 2 L should be used.

  5. Can Stericup® bottles be placed inside freezers for long-term storage of media?

    1. You can successfully freeze and store many aqueous solutions (such as culture media) in Stericup® bottles at temperatures up to -20 °C (-4 °F). It is strongly recommended that you run a sample stability trial under your actual storage conditions prior to using Stericup® bottles for frozen storage.
