Description

Biochem/physiol Actions

Azilsartan is a highly potent and slowly dissociating Angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor blocker (ARB) with an IC₅₀ of 2.6 nM. It is the active form of Azilsartan medoxomil, used for treatment of hypertension. Azilsartan may also have potentially beneficial effects on metabolic syndrome including insulin sensitizing activity that may involve more than just blockade of AT(1) receptors.

Azilsartan is an Angiotensin II receptor blocker; anti-hypertensive.
