However, filter sterilized solutions of human and bovine origin have a shelf life of 2 - 3 years when stored refrigerated. Albumin solutions may also be stored at -20 °C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles for frozen solutions.

General description
L′albumine d′œuf de poule, ou ovalbumine, est le principal composant protéique du blanc d′œuf. L′albumine d′œuf de poule est une glycoprotéine phosphorylée. Selon la séquence d′acides aminés, la partie peptidique de l′ovalbumine comporte 385 résidus et a un poids moléculaire de 42,7 kDa.[1]
Application
L′ovalbumine sert de marqueur (env. 45 kDa) dans l′électrophorèse de protéines. Elle a été employée pour créer un modèle de l′asthme chez l′animal. L′ovalbumine a été utilisée comme milieu pour l′incubation de cellules dans l′essai EliCell pour la détection des cytokines libérées par les éosinophiles.[2]
Des études évaluant les effets de la localisation sur les immunisations à ADN utilisent l′ovalbumine dans des essais d′anticorps.[3]
L′ovalbumine a été employée comme agent d′induction dans des études de dermatite atopique chez l′animal.

Des analyses de calorimétrie différentielle à balayage indiquent que l′ovalbumine se dénature à 84 °C[4]. L′ovalbumine peut être utilisée comme protéine porteuse qui peut être conjuguée à des peptides de synthèse pou servir d′immunogène.
