Description générale

This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for quantiation of morphine levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for urine drug testing, pain prescription monitoring, clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, or isotope dilution methods. Morphine is a very potent opiate analgesic drug used to relieve both acute and chronic severe pain. Sold under trade names including MS Contin®, Kadian®, Oramorph®, and Roxanol, morphine is also a commonly abused recreational drug due to its widespread availability and high potential for addiction.

Application

  • Morphine-D₃ as a forensic analytical standard: A study demonstrated the use of Morphine-D₃ in forensic toxicology, verifying drug presence in decomposed cadavers and providing crucial evidence in serial homicide cases, underscoring its role as a reliable analytical standard in challenging forensic scenarios (Ottaviano et al., 2021).

  • Development of bioanalytical methods: Morphine-D₃ was essential in developing a novel bioanalytical method to determine opioids in biological fluids, highlighting its utility in toxicological analysis and its role in improving the accuracy of substance detection in clinical and forensic investigations (Ferreira et al., 2020).

  • Pharmacokinetic studies of opiates: Research utilized Morphine-D₃ in a gas chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry assay to quantify opiates in human blood samples, demonstrating its critical function in pharmacokinetic studies and its effectiveness in complex biological matrices (Saad et al., 2019).

  • Quantitative analysis in medical research: Morphine-D₃ pre-impregnated dried blood spot cards facilitated the quantitative analysis of morphine in dried blood samples, proving the compound′s utility in streamlining sample preparation and analysis in therapeutic monitoring and clinical research (Mommers et al., 2013).
