General description
Glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP-2), an intestinal specific trophic hormone, is a gastrointestinal peptide with 33% sequence homology to glucagon. L-cells on the mucosa of the small intestine and colon release this enteroendocrine hormone.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP-2) plays a key role in the stimulation of intestinal epithelial proliferation. It possesses intestinotrophic endocrine/paracrine actions. GLP-2 is essentially a nutrition absorption regulator and an intestinal-specific trophic factor. It exhibits anti-inflammatory effects.
Glycogen-like peptide-2 (GLP-2) is involved in a range of processes in vivo including intestinal growth, reduction in bone breakage appetite and neuroprotection. GLP-2 human and GLP-2 rat may be used to study these and other processes.

Glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP-2) is a newly discovered gastrointestinal peptide with 33% sequence homology to glucagon. GLP-2 has attracted interest because of its potent intestinotrophic endocrine/paracrine actions. The peptide, consisting of 33-amino-acid, results from expression of the glucagon gene in

Background. Glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP-2) is an intestinal specific trophic hormone, with therapeutic potential; the effects on intestinal healing are unknown. We used a rat model of colonic healing, under normoxic, and stress (hypoxic) conditions to examine the effect of
Endocrinology, 138(11), 4837-4843 (1997-11-05)
Glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP-2) has recently been identified as a stimulator of intestinal epithelial growth, prompting the development of RIA and HPLC methodologies to study this peptide in more detail. A GLP-2-specific antiserum (UTTH-7) was developed that recognizes amino acids 25-30
