Gene Information

human ... MYC(4609)

General description

The MYC (MYC proto-oncogene, bHLH transcription factor) gene is mapped to human chromosome 8q24.21. This gene encodes an oncogenic transcription factor and belongs to the MYC gene family. Anti-MYC antibody detects endogenous levels of total MYC protein.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human MYC.

Immunogen Range: 386-435

Application

Anti-MYC antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

MYC proto-oncogene, bHLH transcription factor (MYC) is known to induce tumor growth in a variety of cancer types. c-MYC overexpression promotes DNA replication, transcription, translation and metabolism in cancer cells. Upregulation of this gene is observed in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).

Features and Benefits

Breast cancer is a highly heterogeneous carcinoma in women worldwide, but the underlying mechanisms that account for breast cancer initiation and development have not been fully established. Mounting evidence indicates that Checkpoint suppressor 1 (CHES1) is tightly associated with tumorigenesis
