General description

Vitamin B12a is an organic derivative, used as a powerful antidote for cyanide poisoning. It is a storage and delivery form of vitamin B12 and its mode of action involves the formation of non-toxic cyanocobalamin.

Application

Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.
Vitamin B12a hydrochloride has been used as an analytical standard in the analysis of hydroxocobalamin in plasma samples of pigs using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
Vitamin B12a may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in pharmaceutical preparations using microbore reversed-phase HPLC with spectrophotometric, ion-spray ionization MS and inductively coupled plasma MS detection.

Pre-hospital administration of hydroxocobalamin (B12a) is used for empiric treatment of cyanide poisoning because cyanide poisoning is difficult to identify and requires immediate treatment. B12a interferes with the accuracy of several blood laboratory tests. This study aimed to explore how
