General description

Chlorophenol red-β-D-galactopyranoside (CPRG) is a long-wavelength dye which is commonly used for colorimetric assays. The reaction product has a dark red color and is soluble in water. It can be evaluated photometrically at 574 or 578 nm.
The chemical formula on the label represents the monosodium salt.

Application

CPRG has been used as a substrate for β-galactosidase assay.
Colorimetric determination of β-Gal activity in cell extracts and ELISA.

Chlorophenol red-β-D-galactopyranoside (CPRG) might possess oestrogenic activity.
