General description

N,N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAc) is a water-miscible organic solvent used in the synthesis of styrene, vinyl resin, linear polyester, acrylic fiber, plastic, pesticide, and synthetic leather. It participates in dehydrogenation, dehydration, halogenation, deprotonation reactions and reductive carbonylation of transition metals. It can also act as catalysts, promoters, halogen/alkoxy or hydroxyl/halogen exchange mediators, reducing agents, and sources of the base.

Application

N,N-Dimethylacetamide is used as a solvent:
  • In the synthesis of poly(amide-hydrazide)s–graphene composites.
  • In the synthesis of N,N′-1,2-ethanediylbis-(4-hydroxy-pentanamide) and 4-hydroxy-N-(2- hydroxyethyl)-pentanamide based polyurethanes in presence of triethylamine catalyst.

Features and Benefits

N,N-Dimethylacetamide has :
  • High dissolution power of various substrate.
  • High capacity to solvate anions.
