General description

Plate Count Agar (also called Tryptone Glucose Yeast Agar or Casein-Peptone Dextrose Yeast Agar) is a granulated culture medium. It does not contain any inhibitors or indicators, and it is relatively rich in its nutrients. The enzymatic digest of casein (tryptone) with a high level of free amino acids is a nitrogen source. Yeast extract primarily supplies the B-complex vitamins. Glucose is an energy source for the growth of bacteria, while agar is the solidifying agent. Our granulated culture media offer several advantages, such as superior consistency, faster dissolving, longer shelf-life, safety, and easy handling.

Application

Plate Count Agar is suitable for the determination of the total microbial content from milk, dairy products, food and animal feed, water, beverages, and other materials.
