General description

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), a peptide hormone is liberated from endocrine epithelial cells of the small intestine. The proglucagon gene (GCG) codes for glucagon, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), and glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP-2).

Application

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)

Biochem/physiol Actions

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) treatment helps to lower the risk of stroke in diabetic patients and to be neuroprotective in experimental stroke models. It participates in glucose homeostasis and has an impact on the cardiovascular system. GLP-1 may promote pancreatic β-cell proliferation and neogenesis. It enhances insulin release after a meal and triggers insulin transcription and biosynthesis.
