General description

CHES (2-(Cyclohexylamino) ethane sulfonic acid) is a derivative of amino acid taurine. It serves as a standard physiological buffer in the pH range of 8.5-9.5.

Application

CHES may be used:
  • for pH adjustments and as a assay buffer in catechol oxidase activity measurements(32)
  • as a buffer in electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and kinetic measurements(33)
  • as a buffer for soil solution equivalent (SSE) yeast dextrose medium for screening pH optima for growth of Aridibacter nitratireducens A24_SHP-5_238T(34)
