  2. May I use these salts with BG11 solution for medium preparation? is it correct to use 20mL of product C3061 + 20g of product S9883 with deionised water to prepare 1L of final medium?

    1 answer
    1. Product C3061, or Cyanobacteria BG-11 Freshwater Solution is meant to be used for the cultivation of cyanobacteria typically growing in freshwater. Marine species can also be grown with this solution, provided that it is supplemented with 10g/L sodium chloride and 1μg/L vitamin B12. Sea salts found in catalog no. S9883 have not been tested in combination with Product C3061, and as such it cannot be confirmed if marine species would grow in these conditions. Regarding the preparation of the Cyanobacteria BG-11 Freshwater Solution, 20 mL of the solution shall be diluted in 1 liter of water. For the cultivation of marine species, 10 grams of sodium chloride and 1 µg of vitamin B12 shall be added per liter of prepared medium.
